Below you will find the “legal” stuff that tells you about my training and experience as a professional clinical counselor. However, I would like to take just a moment to mention a couple of personal items.

Areas of Focus

Due to the specialized training I have received, my level of experience, and personal interests, I limit new clients to two areas: sexual addiction and marriage counseling. On occasion, I may see people with other counseling issues but that is rare due to my work load.

Other therapists at Counseling Alliance have their own areas of focus and if you want to see a counselor for some other issue, please check out their training and areas of interest.

As of July 1, 2017, rates for Tim Barber will increase to the following:

  • Initial Consultation (50-mins.) $150
  • Regular rate (50-mins.) $150.

Tim has advanced training in sex addiction treatment (serving as a CSAT supervisor) and as a couples therapist (having completed Level II of PACT training with Dr. Stan Tatkin). With regard to couples therapy, it should be noted that Tim highly recommends the initial session be at least 3 hours. There are several reasons for this. The primary reason is that longer sessions actually jump start therapy in a way that the normal 50-minute session cannot do. In the long run, it is actually more cost efficient to have the longer sessions due to the fact that more gets accomplished more quickly. Also, there are assessments and discussions within the initial session that are more complex than can be accomplished in 50 minutes. Exceptions to the 3-hour initial session may be made, but are not recommended.

Tim does not accept insurance.  Detailed receipts can be provided which patients may submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement. Please call to discuss payment options.
