Sex, Porn, and Love Addiction

If you, or a loved one, struggles with addiction it is important that you find the best help available. While many counselors provide good therapy, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) has completed a training process that typically takes two years to complete and includes many hours of consultation as well as continued training to maintain their certification. When dealing with complex issues that have the potential to create real problems knowledge and experience matter. For more about what it means to have the CSAT training check out the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP).

Below you will find helpful articles and websites that discuss the nature of addiction, it's impact on individuals, partners, and families, as well as videos for understanding how to find freedom in your life from sex, porn, and love addiction.

Treatment for sex, porn, or love addiction begins with a thorough assessment. In addition to our initial conversations, CSAT therapists have the ability to utilize helpful clinical tools (available only to CSATs) to help determine the underlying issues.

In addition to traditional out-patient talk-therapy, treatment for sex, porn, or love addiction generally involves a structured approach that moves through a curriculum established by Dr. Patrick Carnes. This material is particularly helpful due to its ability to address the many complex facets of addiction. Group therapy is generally recommended in addition to individual counseling to accelerate the healing process.

Due to the impact of addiction upon partners, individual and/or group therapy is recommended for the partner as well. To learn more about the impact of addiction on the partner see our Partner's Resource page.
